James Wallingford

The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia borders Maryland and Virginia. The first European settlers started arriving about 1730.

Berkeley County, Virginia was created from the northern third of Frederick County, Virginia in 1772. Jefferson County was formed from the county's eastern section. In 1863 Berkeley County became part of the new state of West Virginia.

James Wallingford was born about 1733 in Maryland.

Nicholas Wallingford (married Phebe Williams),
Frances Wallingford (1772, married John Buckles son of Robert Buckles),
Elizabeth Wallingford (1779, married Abraham Buckles),
James Wallingford (1787, married Hannah Lupton),
Sarah Wallingford (married James Wood),
Ann Wallingford (married William Chapman) and
Margaret Wallingford (married John Salter Blue, son of John Blue).

The Wallingfords were early settlers in, what is now, the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. They moved to what is now Jefferson County, West Virginia, which was then Berkeley County, Virginia.

West Virginia is located in the Appalachians and was originally part of Virginia. The capital and largest city is Charleston. It became a state during the Civil War and was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863.

James Wallingford was born about 1733.

He married Prudence Elliott

Phoebe Wallingford (1769, married David Blue)

He died in 1814 in Mason County, Kentucky.
